Changing of the Guard

At the May 7th PPSNYS Executive Council meeting I had the honor of receive the gavel from my good friend and outgoing PPSNYS President, Monroe Payne. We had a good year together along with V.P Stephanie Cunningham and accomplished a lot of important items. We introduced a new modernized PPSNYS Logo and made a transition to a new website which allowed our business services to better track membership, to send messages to our members, allow membership renewals to be made on line and to register for FocusNY.
We also put together a very successful convention, FocusNY, in March with 14 speakers and a great trade show.  More than half of our membership attended FocusNY at the Villa Roma which was awesome. I would like to thank all of our members for showing their active support to PPSNYS.

We have many things to offer our members. These are the benefits that make PPSNYS an exceptional organization for Professional Photographers to belong to:

  • PPSNYS offers professional photographers monthly local meeting in their area for a one on one learning experience with expert instructors, image critique, networking and fellowship.
  • Discounted annual convention (FocusNY) with exciting classes on various photographic topics, image judging, vendor participation and fellowship.
  • Discounted registration to the highly respectedPPSNYS week long Workshop held at the beautiful William Smith & Hobart Campus in Geneva, NY
  • Annual Image Competition critiqued by PPA Affiliated Jurors which can help you improve your images.
  • Talent Exchange Programs or TEP’s. Day long classes offered at the local section level with intense learning from one or more instructors.

We will be adding more benefits as the year continues. Website enhancements should allow us to acknowledge member achievement, announce new members and report on new business ideas. We will try to add short videos vignettes that detail interesting photo technics like High Speed Sync or Second Curtain Flash.
However we cannot accomplish these things unless we can harness our member’s talents and energy to build our organization into the best possible place it can be if you are working photographer.

Sincerely,
Alan Vollweiler, President
